Rang Lir got creative by designing and creating their own felt decoration. After examining the fashion industry and the principles of design they each created their own owl using their design, analytical and sewing skills.
This term saw the Home Economics students focusing on special diets. Athletic people’s diet was examined and analysed by focusing on the diet of the Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps. Students examined food labels, analysed the differences between convenience foods and home made food products and based on the nutritional knowledge they gained they planned, prepared and cooked a range of meals that were high in protein while being balanced and based on the New Food Pyramid 2016.
The Home Economics students at Coláiste De Lacy were given a challenge for their first practical class. It was a tough challenge because we actually had no equipment other than a fridge!!
Students spent some time researching recipes for ‘No Bake Baking’ and came up with some creative ideas.
First up we have Joao, Toma, Niamh, Gillian and Adam. They decided to create a Scooby Snack!
